About the Director
Few athletes or coaches sport a diversified and international-caliber resume as Olympic medalist and NCAA champion Dan Steele, who returns for his fifth year on the Duck staff as an assistant coach and will oversee the men’s sprinters, hurdlers and decathletes and men's and women's pole vaulters.
The 2005 West Regional Assistant Coach of the Year for Men’s Sprints/Hurdles has established himself as one of the nation’s brightest coaches, and in his first four years has guided Ducks to three NCAA victories, another NCAA runner-up finish, eight Pac-10 titles, 39 All-America honors, 49 NCAA invites, and 24 school records.
In 2006, his men's sprint and hurdle corps and his men and women's pole vault unit confirmed their reputations as some of the collegiate scene's best and added two NCAA titles among their 13 All-America honors and 16 NCAA invitations, four Pac-10 titles, three school record records and one West Regional victory.

One of the nation’s most renowned distance coaches, Pat Tyson returns to the 2007 Oregon cross country camp.
The former Duck and current University of Kentucky distance coach competed in two NCAA Cross Country Championships for the Ducks (33rd in 1971, 54th in 1972) and helped UO to first- and third-place finishes, respectively. On the track, the former walk-on ended his collegiate career in 1973 ranked top-six for the Ducks in the 3-mile (sixth, 13:37.0) and 6-mile (fourth, 28:34.0). [Full Bio] |
