About the Director

Few athletes or coaches sport a diversified and international-caliber resume as Olympic medalist and NCAA champion Dan Steele, who returns for his fifth year on the Duck staff as an assistant coach and will oversee the men’s sprinters, hurdlers and decathletes and men's and women's pole vaulters.

The 2005 West Regional Assistant Coach of the Year for Men’s Sprints/Hurdles has established himself as one of the nation’s brightest coaches, and in his first four years has guided Ducks to three NCAA victories, another NCAA runner-up finish, eight Pac-10 titles, 39 All-America honors, 49 NCAA invites, and 24 school records.

In 2006, his men's sprint and hurdle corps and his men and women's pole vault unit confirmed their reputations as some of the collegiate scene's best and added two NCAA titles among their 13 All-America honors and 16 NCAA invitations, four Pac-10 titles, three school record records and one West Regional victory.

Jenni Ashcroft Pole Vault - Assistant Camp Director
	In 2006-07, Jennifer Ashcroft begins her first year as a volunteer assistant coach for Oregon, and will work with its decorated men's and women's pole vault units - a group that has accounted five NCAA titles (4M, 1W) and two NCAA runner-up honors (1M, 1W) among their 19 All-America honors (9W, 10M) the past 10 years. Lance Deal Throws
	In his fifth year with the Ducks, Lance Deal has quickly cemented a reputation as one of the nation's top collegiate throws coaches – not surprising for the well-respected technician who was a four-time Olympic hammer thrower, national record holder, 21-time national champion, and 1996 Olympic silver medalist [Full Bio]
Robert Johnson Sprints, Jumps, Recruiting Coordinator (W)
	Regarded as one of the nation's premier jumps coaches, second-year assistant coach Robert Johnson will oversee a variety of men's and women's events in the sprints and jumps, and will also serve as the women's team recruiting coordinator. [Full Bio]
Andy Powell Distances
	In his second season with the Ducks, assistant coach Andy Powell continues his work with the UO men’s and women’s distance programs and his former collegiate mentor Vin Lananna. [Full Bio]
Kelly Blair LaBounty Multi-Events, Hurdles
	Oregon track fans celebrate the return of former great Kelly Blair LaBounty to the Duck fold as a second-year assistant coach for the 2006-07 season. [Full Bio]
Pat Tyson Distance - Cross Country Camp Only
	One of the nation’s most renowned distance coaches, Pat Tyson returns to the 2007 Oregon cross country camp. The former Duck and current University of Kentucky distance coach competed in two NCAA Cross Country Championships for the Ducks (33rd in 1971, 54th in 1972) and helped UO to first- and third-place finishes, respectively. On the track, the former walk-on ended his collegiate career in 1973 ranked top-six for the Ducks in the 3-mile (sixth, 13:37.0) and 6-mile (fourth, 28:34.0). [Full Bio]
Maurica Powell Distances - Volunteer
	In her second season with the Ducks, Maurica (Carlucci) Powell continues to serve as a volunteer assistant for the Oregon distance programs and works with her collegiate mentor Vin Lananna. [Full Bio]
